Kapanina of Russia ($30,000) with Kathel Boulanger of France taking out

The finale of each days show was a special rendition of Tinstix of

Al Ain Aerobatic Show 07
held with great success. Jurgis' own design Aerobatics Prize
competition of Unlimited and Freestyle Aerobatics against time is
hailed as a great success by all those involved. Svetlana
Kapanina took away the 1st prize of $50,000 with an impressive display
of precise and fast manouvres. Klaus Schrodt took 2nd and $30,000with a
flight time slightly better that Svetlana's but had to cope with some
minor time penalties for sloppy manouevres that pushed him back to
second. Both improved on their previous days times. 3rd ($20,000) was
taken by Viktor Chmal who had to fall back on his first finals day time
which had been a very clean flight with almost no penalties.
'Al Ain
Aerobatics Show Prize' from 26
to 30 January 2007.
An exciting new
international aerobatics
spectacle for the worlds most capable aerobatics Pilots.
This completely new
format for aerobatics
competition is a combination of classic unlimited class aerobatics
maneuvers
and each pilot’s own FREESTYLE maneuvers. The first part known as the
“AR”
(Aerobatics against time) of each flight is a series of classic
unlimited
figures which each pilot must complete flying against the clock. The
pilot’s
time plus any penalties for incorrect or incomplete maneuvers, is then
recorded
as a base score. Then, without landing, the pilot will complete a
3-minute
freestyle known as the “AF” (Aerobatics Freestyle), which will be
judged for
innovation, entertainment and other factors by a panel of 3 qualified
scorers. The
timing for the AR
and AF parts is started and stopped when the Pilot passes through a
special
timing “gate” close to the ground directly in front of the spectators.
The
scores received for the freestyle are then converted direct to seconds
of time
and subtracted from the Pilots “AR” program time. The Pilot with the
lowest
aggregate time wins the flight and the Pilot with the lowest time from
the
final 2 days of competition flights wins the Championship and takes
home the
US$50,000 first prize. $30,000 is awarded to second place and $20,000
to third.

The Tinstix of Dynamite show by Jurgis, Jim LeRoy and Rich's Incredible
Pyro went with the proverbial bang at the closing of each day of the
show. This was the first time this incredible and fast moving air show
act has been seen outside North America. The local crowd were awestruck
and the organisers are already planning bigger and better things for
next year!

Today qualification rounds
were held at Motegi's Haute Voltige World Grand Prix of
Aerobatics. Jurgis was to have arrived in Japan the evening of
Oct 31st but his taxi to the airport in Florida failed to pick him up
in time and he was a day late. Despite this, and after only 2 practice
flights in Yoshi Muroya's standard Su26MX yesterday, Jurgis was able to
qualify at the top of the list of invited international competition
Aerobatics Stars today.

A busy month indeed.
First it was ship the Juka to Iceland then prepare and ferry in the
Su26 and Yak50 to Sweden for the Dala Jarna show. A 2 day ferry back to
Lithuania and off to Iceland, assemble the Juka and fly in the special
Lithuania Independence celebration there. Iceland was the first country
in the world to recognize Lithuania's declaration of Independence from
the Soviet Union 15 years ago. A Lithuanian "thank you" trip was
organised to Iceland in August in appreciation of this. Jurgis made a
special demonstration flight in the capital Reikjavik as part of this
present from Lithuania to Iceland. Pictures that follow show Jurgis
with then President of Iceland Mr. Hanibalson and with the
Orchestra Trimitas members. Also we have photos of the Su26 and
Airbandits in Sweden. After Iceland, Jurgis flew to the USA and picked
up the Su31 near Chicago and flew to Indianapolis for the Airshow there
with Jim Leroy. 3 weekends, 3 different planes to fly solo, Airbandits,
TINSTIX and 4 different countries.

completed! Another superb Airshow in this most scenic of venues. Jurgis
flew his Su26 solo and in a 2 ship Air Bandits routine with the Su29
flown by Kiwi pilot Rob Fry. After the show, Jurgis was
invited to fly the Alpine
Fighter Collection Polikapovs. He was able to explore the flight
envelopes of these famous and rare fighter planes while the Fighter
Collection engineers watched with just a lttle concern evident as
Jurgis made multiple snap rolls on top of loops in these exraordinary
aircraft! After 3 landings Jurgis was making perfect 3 point landings
in both the types.

Red Bull Air
Races 2004
3 races are planned this
year however it is confirmed that Jurgis will not compete. Pilots, no
matter how well qualified, need to be invited to these races. There is
no open qualification only the invitation of the controlling Red Bull
sponsored Pilot/Organizers. Unfortunate for what could have been an
exciting competition that the best Pilots are excluded.

Jurgis
made a wildly successful debut in the Southern Hemisphere at Warbirds
over Wanaka 2004 International Air Show April 9th to 11th. Flying his
Su 31 "Kuzoku" for the first time in New Zealand, he demonstrated the
amazing piloting capabilities he has become renowned for in other parts
of the World.
From the Cobras after take off and then flying
away inverted from a cobra at approximately 100m altitude he went on to
show the Kairys Wheel (this time 22 turns) vertical down snaprolls and
then many hover maneuvers such as the vertical up snaproll turning into
a slow half roll hover and then a very small loops.
The International and Kiwi audience of pilots and air show fans were in
"awe" (from an enthusiastic fan's after show email received
today).
Jurgis was very impressed with the enthusiasm and hospitality of the
Kiwi fans and show organizers and is looking forward to more
opportunities to fly "down under" (and get some fishing in too!)
